In the past couple of years, a lot has been said about the fact Nepotism is rampant in Bollywood, and only a handful of opportunities are open for aspiring actors and actresses who belong to a non-movie background. However, there are enough talented actors in the industry too are changing the narrative and steadily doing good work in the movies without any movie connections, and one such story is that of Asmmita Bakshi.
The actress started her journey with Femina Style Diva 2016, where she was a runner up, and even won the title for fitness and best smile. From there, Asmmita started appearing for various auditions. She went to audition for the role of a journalist in Apoorva Lakhia’s Haseena and bagged the role of Shraddha Kapoor’s daughter in the film, and the actress made sure she made her performance count. After Haseena, Asmmita has also acted in Fryday opposite Varun Sharma, Bhaiiaji Superhit, and will be seen next in Emraan Hashmi starrer, Why Cheat India.
Apart from Bollywood, Asmmita has also shot for a short film titled Sparsh which has been directed by Ankush Bhatt, in which she is playing the parallel lead alongside K K Menon. She will soon start work on a web series Rapchik Richa by Cineyug, which is also being directed by Ankush Bhatt. Speaking on all the opportunities and making a mark in the Industry solely on basis of talent, Asmmita said, ”I am extremely thankful for each opportunity and make sure I adapt to each role and give my 100%. It’s high time we change the perception about the industry not being welcoming for outsiders as all my co-stars have been quite supportive and have been integral to my growth as an actor,”
