The Hotel: Why is it not releasing in India?

Anupam Kher and Slumdog Millionaire star Dev Patel’s movie The Hotel is stuck in the sea of problems, facing the waves of legal battle and controversy.


Based on the heinous terror attack of 26/11 movie – The Hotel has been released worldwide and went into multiple international film festivals. The movie was said to be released in India and worldwide on 29th March, however it did not release in India. The hotel is running on in USA and Australia, it was pulled out from New Zealand in the wake of recent terror attacks in Church and mosques. 

According to a news website, the movie is unable to find its distributors in India because of its sensitive nature. Meanwhile, Netflix has also dropped the movie from its menu like a hot potato. The OTT platform has been sued by a Dubai based company Plus Holdings. The company has filed an injunction at High Court against Netflix and other platforms from streaming the movie. Plus Holding claims that it has the exclusive SAARC (South Asian Association Regional corporation) rights of the movie.  

Recently Zee Studios tweeted on its official account suggest the movie will soon see the break of dawn.   

Anupam Kher has been excited about the movie and is promoting it the US; his Twitter is overflowing with reviews of the movie.
